BeavEx is seeking a Terminal Manager in Manteca, CA . The Terminal Manager will be responsible for management of terminal employees and effective contract management of Vendors and Independent Contract (IC) drivers.
Implement key company initiatives at the terminal.
Assist District Manager in developing and implementing short and long range operational goals.
Collaborate with corporate, other managers, and staff members in order to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking courier services through terminal employees.
Maintain complete adherence to Chain of Custody (COC) by drivers and terminal staff. Regularly monitor COC procedures and audits in the field, ensuring that COC reports and audits are completed.
Analyze operational or management reports to include OTP, driver turnover, open routes, and settlement.
Direct and coordinate the activities of employees in order to meet terminal goals and objectives.
Manage and review route logistics, troubleshoot service problems, and implement schedule and route changes.
Evaluate terminal for route efficiency.
Direct acquisition of and termination of Vendor/IC contracts.
Ensure that policies and procedures as defined in the BeavEx Operations Manual and Employee Handbook are consistently followed.

Operations

Customer Service
Communicate regularly with customers to determine service levels and needs.
Supervise staff to ensure highest levels of customer service are met.
Provide excellent customer service by responding proactively to investigate and resolve customer inquiries and/or complaints.
Manage relationships with Vendor/IC's to ensure terminals are prepared to meet all customer requirements.
Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts for each customer at local and regional level.
Coordinate with Corporate Sales & Marketing Department on sales initiatives, sales forecasts, etc.
Personnel
Manage direct reports: Set performance goals & initiatives, discipline staff as appropriate, plan and organize work assignments, perform training and staff development.
Responsible for staffing within the terminal; Coordinate with the Corporate Human Resources department and GM to recruit, screen, interview, hire, discharge, transfer, or promote employees, and oversee those personnel processes.
Train, monitor, and enforce company policies and procedures at terminal.
Plan, organize, assign, and manage the work of employees to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with BeavEx Inc. requirements.
Use conflict resolution techniques to resolve personnel problems or grievances.
Monitor employee time keeping, overtime hours, PDO (Paid days off), and vacation schedules.
Investigate work related accidents and/or injuries, complete required paperwork, and communicate with the corporate office.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws.
Prepare and present annual performance reviews to staff.
Vendor / IC Relations
Responsible for managing the use of Vendor/ IC's to perform driving services for BeavEx.
Manage contracts with Vendor/IC's including pricing/negotiations, sourcing, screening, terminating, etc.
Verify that Corporate IC Liaison receives appropriate information regarding Vendor/ IC's.
Direct staff to maintain proper and updated Vendor/IC information in CourierBase.
Participate in troubleshooting and resolving any outstanding Vendor/IC problems, issues, or grievances.
Finance
Maintain operation within company financial guidelines.
Manage driver settlement expenses on a weekly basis to ensure budget is met.
Support the District Manager and General Manager in management of sales, general and administrative expenses.
Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
Manage employee overtime expenses.
Technology
Ensure technology is utilized to the fullest extent possible, including all track & trace technology, CourierBase, Nextel's, scanners, palms, etc.
Direct employees to accurately use CourierBase (CB) within the terminal to: enter routing/pricing activities, perform weekly settlement, keep a dispatch log, create and update Vendor/IC information, etc. Ensure staff is properly trained in CourierBase, and oversee overall usage of CB as a tool.
Use electronic mail, telephones, CourierBase software, mobile phones, and other communication tools effectively on a daily basis.
Compliance
Maintain terminal compliance by keeping documents and records to pass a company audit; comply with all DOT regulations (if applicable) and OSHA requirements.
Promote safe work activities by conducting and/or attending company safety meetings. Oversee work progress to verify safety or conformance to standards.
Implement TSA requirements (if applicable) by completing TSA Indirect Air Carrier Standard Security Program and becoming familiar with all TSA Known Shipper requirements.
Requirements:
Education, Experience, and Skills:
Bachelor's or Associate's degree is required and/or equivalent experience.
2-5 years management, customer service and/or dispatching experience, preferably in courier or transportation field.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Problem Solving skills.
Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet, & routing software.
Interpersonal skills; ability to foster teamwork and motivate/coach others.
Knowledge of local and regional geographical area.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
Knowledge of business and management principles.
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language.
Accurately and quickly read maps.
Perform well and make optimum decisions under pressure and time constraints.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
